Help support Bennett on his Global Citizen Year in Ecuador!

As our own Bennett Quintard graduates from high school, he also has completed his year of serving as an International Youth of Unity representative.

And as if that didn’t already make us proud enough, he’s decided not to go directly to college, but to spend a bridge year learning to become A Global Citizen and social entrepreneur.

In the process, he is raising money not only for himself, but to send others in years to come.  We invite everyone to join us in supporting his endeavors!
Checks can be written to Unity of the Oaks with the words “Global Scholarship” in the memo line, or you can use an envelope provided at the Sunday Service.

“It is your privilege and duty to give [your children] the Truth of their being, and to see to it that they enter into the consciousness of Truth and make practical use of it in all their ways.” – Myrtle Fillmore

Here’s Bennett’s application video, and below, a message from him!

From Bennett:

I am starting this scholarship for the young adults who want to be a light in their world going forward. But I can’t ignore the fact that I need financial support too, and what I am doing NOW is what I hope to support in our youth going forward.

The reasons for creating this scholarship are three fold. First of all, I feel it is critical to show as a movement that we aren’t forgetting about our young people once they graduate high school. By simply offering a scholarship, it shows Unity’s commitment to sending its youth out into the world to live its teachings. Secondly UGIS will encourage the youth who have dreams of global change but are discouraged right away as they face financial obstacles, with no support. The sheer number of young adults who look at a career of helping others will increase as light is brought to the subject and it is proven it can be done. Finally, by supporting our best and brightest youth we send them out into the world to share Unity’s message. Those people will touch the most lives and reach all corners of the globe. Don’t we want those people actively promoting Unity and bringing it into a more mainstream view?

As for the logistics of this scholarship, please understand that they are already in place. This is not merely an idea, and in just months the first Unity Global Initiative Scholar will be awarded money towards college and/or a bridge year program. For now all funds will be held through a private account at the Unity of the Oaks church. Both the board at Unity of the Oaks as well as Rev. Molly Rockey are on-board and a part of our team. When I return from my Global Citizen Year the funds will be moved into a more central and permanent account. If you have any questions as to the validity of anything I have said, feel free to contact Rev. Molly Rockey at minister@unityoftheoaks.org .

Specifics for where your donations go are as follows: 50% of all donations acquired will go right into the UGIS fund. The other 50% will go towards my tuition for my Global Citizen Year leadership training program until I have received $5,000. This is so that I can gain the know-how I need to continue to support Unity and its youth in many ways through future projects! Once I have raised $5,000, all funds received going forward will be put straight into the scholarship fund!

Let me know if you have any questions, and how it will be best for you to move forward with supporting this amazing cause!

Blessings,

Bennett Quintard
