Quotes from the Thousand Oaks Acorn:
People of all faiths invited to Thanksgiving Eve Celebration
The annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Eve Celebration was held on Wed., Nov. 26 in the chapel at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Erbes Road.
The service included music from a combined congregational choir with inspirational thoughts by leading members of more than 12 faiths.
Interfaith Council member and LDS Bishop Larry Bagby has been attending the interfaith celebrations for several years and coordinated this year’s event.
“I love coming together as a group of believers. Each year we hold the event in a different chapel or venue. Last year the Catholics hosted. This year my faith is hosting the event,” Bagby said.
“It’s really a matter of unity. We’re different in many ways, but the spirit that is here when we all come together in friendship is really beautiful,” he said.
