Rev. Sherry Hursey, Minister

Rev. Sherry Hursey, an Ordained Unity Minister, was inspired by her beloved community, Unity of the Oaks, to pursue her ministerial path. She began building her spiritual foundation in Unity from age 14 and is grateful to have received guidance from many Unity icons, including Dr. Sue Sikking and Rev. Eric Butterworth. An accomplished actress, writer, and producer, she has also garnered awards for her contributions to the entertainment industry, making her face and voice recognizable to audiences globally, both in TV and film. Among her many pursuits, Sherry is very passionate about collaborating with her husband, Rick Cowling, to produce uplifting and conscious media through their production company, Turning on the Light Entertainment. Sherry endeavors to combine her creative pursuits and Unity background to “shine a light” on the teachings that have deeply influenced her from a young age. She thinks of Unity of the Oaks as a slice of heaven on earth and feels privileged to serve her treasured community.

Valerie Kobabe, LUT

Valerie Kobabe, a Licensed Unity Teacher, Spiritual Art Educator and Life Coach is dedicated to guiding others in healing and transformation through the creative process. Valerie brings decades of experience in recovery, counseling, and New Thought ministry, weaving together art, spirituality, and compassionate listening—creating sacred spaces where individuals can explore inner wisdom, process grief and trauma, and awaken to the indwelling Christ presence. Valerie believes that art is a form of prayer and a pathway to divine connection, helping people find peace, purpose, and renewal. Valerie founded and opened Snapdragon Healing Center, in response to the Borderline Bar & Grill shooting and the Woolsey Fires, which occurred within the same week in her community. She has continued to provide a haven for creative and spiritual healing, helping others find hope, resilience, and strength through art, Unity and practical Christian principles. Valerie continues to share her passion for art and Spirit as a means of healing hearts and transforming lives.

The Board of Trustees is the volunteer body that is voted in by the membership to make decisions about the business of church operations.
They meet monthly but are present at Sunday Services to assist and are available to answer your questions.
